Food for Thought

The series Rome continues to fascinate me. Two of the main characters, though friends, are proceeding along very different paths in life. It has led me to wonder, which is worse: to betray your principles or to have no principles at all.

I always thought betrayal is the worse of the two.

The unprincipled person is wasting their talents, but the betrayer stabs at the heart of trust and at the bonds that connect one human to another. Once severed, it cannot be repaired.

I'm inclined to agree.
