No Romney

Sounds like it's not gonna happen. Which leaves me supporting Thompson alone. I always did support him, but I could get behind Romney as s second choice if Thompson didn't work out. Huckabee I'm not so sure about. He's right on the second amendment, but not sure about the other stuff. That swipe at Bush's foreign policy wasn't so hot.

Is it just me, or are most of the GOP candidates to the left of JFK?

What the heck has happened to conservative leadership in this country??

Stickwick, if I might ask, was it you who was giving Kim du Toit such a rough time in the comments on the "LDS and Politics" post (I followed the link in that member's profile here)?

If so, I just wanted to say well done, good show! :)

'Twas indeed me. I go variously by Stickwick or Sarah (my real name).

Thanks for the kudos. :-)

You're very welcome. Mr. du Toit seems like a sensible enough person in most areas, but when it comes to religious belief... Well, needless to say, I greatly enjoyed seeing you discomfit him, and his blustering attempts to disasociate his own literal evangelism from any taint of religious behaviour was more than a little amusing, though sadly, I couldn't comment on it myself, comments having expired (or perhaps more like, disabled) by that point.

Keep up the good fight, heh. ;-)

The du Toits are nice, interesting people who know a lot about certain things. However, I agree with you that religion is far from a strong subject with them. When it comes to religion -- particularly Christianity -- most atheists, I think, are blinded by their biases so much that they don't realize how much they engage in the very same type of thinking and behavior as the people they criticize. I would have liked to have seen your comments, but it's probably a good thing that they allow the comments to close/expire -- otherwise I'd be there forever!

BTW, thanks for sticking up for me in the Jackson-LotR discussion. I made a stupid blunder, and should have known better. But thankfully it didn't have much to do with the main thrust of the criticisms. I really enjoyed that whole discussion. And, ironically enough, I'm hosting a get-together over the holidays to screen the extended version of all three movies for some friends. ;-)

Hey, if you want some fun, check out Rifftrax's funny commentary for The Fellowship of the Ring here. If you're a fan of Mystery Science Theater 3000 you'll recognize what Rifftrax is all about.
